T. Colin Campbell, The China Study: The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted And the Startling Implications for Diet, Weight Loss, And Long-term Health

“Americans love to hear good things about their bad habits.”

T. Colin Campbell, The China Study: The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted and the Startling Implications for Diet, Weight Loss and Long-Term Health

“How did we forget these lessons from the past? How did we go from knowing that the best athletes in the ancient Greek Olympics must consume a plant-based diet to fearing that vegetarians don’t get enough protein? How did we get to a place where the healers of our society, our doctors, know little, if anything, about nutrition; where our medical institutions denigrate the subject; where using prescription drugs and going to hospitals is the third leading cause of death? How did we get to a place where advocating a plant-based diet can jeopardize a professional career, where scientists spend more time mastering nature than respecting it? How did we get to a place where the companies that profit from our sickness are the ones telling us how to be healthy; where the companies that profit from our food choices are the ones telling us what to eat; where the public’s hard-earned money is being spent by the government to boost the drug industry’s profits; and where there is more distrust than trust of our government’s policies on foods, drugs and health? How did we get to a place where Americans are so confused about what is healthy that they no longer care?”

Dossie Easton, The Ethical Slut: A Guide to Infinite Sexual Possibilities

“The real test of love is when a person—including you—can know your weaknesses, your stupidities and your smallnesses, and still love you.”

Dogs 101 - Rottweiler

I remember my Rotties from my childhood. When I saw this it made me feel nostalgic. I loved my babies very much. They were taken away because the place we lived at when I was younger did not allow pets. I still remember Nina, my no nonsense protective girl, Elexis my spoiled little girl who loved to bully her brother and who always stayed by my side, and Max my shy little boy who always hid behind me. From my experience Rotties are the very best of dogs and it breaks my heart every time I remember the day they were taken away. I hope they ended up in happy homes with people who took good care of them and gave them the love that I was unable to.

                                                                                                I love you babies.

“The point for me is to create relationships based on deeper and more real notions of trust. So that love becomes defined not by sexual exclusivity, but by actual respect, concern, commitment to act with kind intentions, accountability for our actions, and a desire for mutual growth.”

Life

I have never really understood why people think that just because you know how or why something happens it makes it any less magical. I really do not get that. To me seeing a beautiful thing and knowing what makes it beautiful just makes it more beautiful. For example rainbows. For a rainbow to appear it needs to be sunny and rainy at the same time and the sunlight has to hit the rain drops in just the right way for the different colors to appear as they do and sometimes if your lucky and the sun hits the rain drop at the a specific angle a double rainbow will appear. Not only that but the second rainbow will be in reverse. Now when I see a rainbow I don't just think "that's pretty" and move on. I stay and stare at it for awhile because I know the remarkable chain of events that lead to its creation. So I appreciate it more.
